Austin, TX. 2017. Ad 2 Austin is a not-for-profit organization for young advertising and marketing professionals. I was on their 2017-2018 Board of Directors as a Communications Co-Chair.
An affiliate of the Austin Ad Fed and the American Advertising Federation (AAF), Ad 2 Austin is a community of advertising and marketing professionals, students, and enthusiasts ages 32 and under looking to progress their careers, share their knowledge, and have a damn good time meeting people in the industry. My Communications Co-Chair, Becca Mestsenger, and I were responsible for Ad 2 Austin's website, blog, printed materials, e-blasts, press releases, social media, as well as the communication needs of other club committees.
In an effort to keep in touch with Ad 2 Austin members and non-members, we sent out a monthly email newsletter. This newsletter included information about upcoming social events, workshop opportunities and recaps of significant events. Kegs with Legs: Jingle Mingle Edition!
Each month we like to host a social event, and this month it’s Kegs with Legs: Jingle Mingle Edition! Different than our usual happy hours, Kegs with Legs allows young professionals to network with local agencies while offering agencies a chance to show off their digs (and find up-and-coming talent).
Join us for our special holiday edition of Kegs with Legs Thursday, 12/14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at INK Communications Co.'s new office on South Lamar Boulevard. Enjoy Thirsty Goat Amber* from Thirsty Planet Brewing Company, wear your favorite holiday gear, pack plenty of business cards, and prepare to play a few reindeer games.

Ad 2 Austin Goes North
Last month we had the opportunity to send five of our board members to the Ad 2 National Mid-Year Retreat in Minneapolis, Minnesota! The retreat, open to all 21 Ad 2 clubs across the country, was an amazing opportunity to brainstorm new initiatives and reconnect with Ad 2’s strengths as an organization.

2018 Austin ADDYs
It's submission time, people! Well, you have a week or two, but why sweat it if you don’t have to? Entries are due by Thursday, 12/21, at midnight. Late fees start Friday, 12/22.
The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club (Ad Club) competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

Au Revoir, 2017!
Join us for our last meeting of 2017! Our December meeting will be held on Monday, 12/11, at 6:30 p.m. at the SXSW office, located at 400 Bowie St. All are welcome! (And don’t forget, #BYOB!) As always, we'll meet up at Tiniest Bar in Texas afterwards (depending on weather) to grab a drink and toast to the Mondays.
